7artisans 55mm f/1.4 Lens – Real World Sample Photos

7artisains 55mm f/1.4 Lens

Over the past week or so I have been taking some real world sample photos with the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Lens using the Sony A6400. In the real world this lens is proving to be awesome if you are willing to manually focus of course, and when you factor in the unbelievably low $119 US price tag you just have to say to yourself, I can learn to manually focus!!

All the current 7artisans Photoelectric Lenses can be found in my Lens Guide Here >>

I will be coming out with a video tutorial and article on how to use manual focus with the Sony A6400 in particular and I really think you will be amazed at how easy it actually is when utilizing the built in tool like focus peaking and magnify zoom. These tools are available on all the Sony cameras, so it doesn’t really matter what model you have if you want to utilize those tools, but I’m currently using Sony’s latest APS-C mirrorless A6400 Camera which I reviewed Here >>

Real World Sample Photos

For these real world photos I was shooting raw quality and used Lightroom to develop the images a little bit. As you can see in the completely untouched raw quality lab testing photos linked above, the 7artisains 55mm f/1.4 Lens lacks that puchy contrast and color like the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Lens has which I show off in the lab here >> for a recent comparison.

Therefore, I added a basic tone curve to all of these images, and some vibrance to make the colors pop a bit more. Nothing crazy though.

Also, because I was using the Sony A6400 which is a 1.5x crop factor camera, the effective focal length of this 55mm lens works out to 82.5mm. A very nice range for portraits and killer background separation opportunities which really helps isolate your subject.

Be sure to click on the photos for a larger view and the full review of this lens will be coming soon and I will have many more real world sample photos to share!

Closing Remarks

So as you can see in the real word the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Lens performs great as predicted. In the lab when compared to the more expensive lenses it does not perform quite as good, but for online slot oyunları $119 US, this is a fantastic optic for those on a budget willing to manual focus.

I’ll catch up with you later! Jay
